When our daughter's boyfriend came to us and let us know he would be proposing soon, we were thrilled we had already started saving up some money and it would not be a new financial weight. However, when we started checking out venues along with photographers, dj's, etc. in the Capital Region and beyond, we soon discovered we had not budgeted enough.
We also realized every decision would be a compromise and involve less personalization than our daughter originally envisioned.
So we decided to go local and more traditional. She and her fiance are getting married in the town where my husband grew up and where he and I were married. Like her aunt, she is having her ceremony at the family home on Lake Champlain. The reception is at a venue the family is familiar with from other occasions and has its own allure and unique setting to offer.
The space requires seating and tables! We considered renting and found the cost for our daughter's faves significant. We considered spending a little less but felt like we were drowning in linen! We reached out to another company with handmade tables and they were booked! So, the father of the bride visited the lumber yard, like he does daily, but with a different fervor.
We are staying within our budget and want others to be able to also while having the moments they imagined.
Also...they aren't getting married until June of 2025 which is pretty far away and we are pretty ready now! So we want to be part of some other celebrations before and after!
